Not long ago I was in a meeting that included the President of Golden
Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, Dr. Jeff Iorg. He had just received copies of his newly-published book, The Case for Antioch: A Biblical Model for
a Transformational Church. While he was signing my copy, I asked him how he
found time to think, reflect, and write. He responded without hesitation,
"I write while I travel, and I think all the time."
Clearly, Dr. Iorg has much to think about. He leads a high-impact
Southern Baptist institution through transitional times. He also serves as lead
chaplain for the (world champion!) San Francisco Giants major league baseball team.
This involves supervising the all the chaplains for the Giants' minor league
affiliates.
Yet with all of his responsibilities, Jeff has disciplined himself
to continuously think about and act upon that which is mission critical. The
result is that he leads effectively and finds time to write a new book every
year.
One way to grow as an "impact player" is to practice
Spirit-led, mission-focused, entrepreneurial thinking. Our mission is too
critical to play small ball.
Do your thinking patterns simultaneously draw you close to Christ while prompting mission-focused action?
Challenge for this week: Think all the time, intentionally
filtering your thoughts through:
· the Word of God
· your call to follow Christ
· your life mission
· your responsibility to lead others around you
· your life mission
· your responsibility to lead others around you

Bro. Rich, thank you for the challenge to think all the time and sharing with us your passion.

Hi Rich, Shamon and I were just discussing how we need to continually focus on where our thoughts are taking us. Thanks for sharing; your words are an encouragement and a reminder to stay on task.
