CSBC
Tsunami Report The Tsunami Student Conference was a great success once again. About 2,400 students and leaders attended from about 130 churches. The churches came from a dozen different cultural groups and over a half dozen different denominations. There were over 80 recorded decisions plus many more decisions that were seen only in the church group devotions. This year over 500 students participated in ministry projects around Long Beach including community surveys and service in hospitals, clothing closets, and food banks. Students gave over $6,000 to California Missions. Of course the real measure of the success of the conference is not in the numbers that can be measured on site. It is in the changes that happen in individual lives and in youth groups. Thanks to a great team of dedicated volunteers, Tsunami was an immense success. If you would like to see pictures from Tsunami 07 click here. Tsunami 2008 will be held in San Jose on Dec. 29-31.

California Marriage Protection Act
If the California Supreme Court strikes down Proposition 22, and thus overrules the people's will on marriage (currently defined as a union between one man and one woman), California Marriage Protection Act will be ready with an initiative on the November ballot for the people of the Golden State to vote to override the court and protect traditional marriage, according to Ron Prentice, chief executive officer of the California Family Council. The act also would deter further efforts by the state Legislature to legalize same-sex "marriage," despite Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's second veto of such a measure in 2007. ACTIONS:

2. Contact Mid-Valley point person for information: Gary Comer, Pastor of FSBC Madera, cell # 209-658-4761 or email at gardes@sbcglobal.net.

Thanks You Janice...

[We are posting Carol Climer's expression of thanks (with her permission) to Janice Oxford. Janice asks for no recognition, which makes recognizing her efforts all the more joyful! Janice is a true champion of the Gospel ministry at Juvenile Hall and Boot Camp each year.]

Janice,

My Hero – the lady that makes the Juvenile Hall and Boot Camp Christmas Parties so successful – you are an angel God has given to me!!!!!! Without all the help you give, this event would be lacking much. The staff at Juvenile Hall are just amazed at the way the refreshments are prepared for them. They are so thankful and appreciative!!! The presentation is beautiful and both the men and women comment. You make it so easy for me to take care of the outside staff and the special team staff. I am so proud of what you do and am so proud to give it – the signature of Jesus is all over it.

Boot Camp – what can I say – you melt the hearts of those cadets every year – you literally melt it with all that Nacho Cheese!!! You prepare a feast for them that has love written all over it. The guards were very complimentary of the program and especially the refreshments.

I am attaching the Boot Camp prayer requests to you. There were 49 professions of faith but on the sheets it looks like 44 – we are not sure what happened in the recording of the stats but Karl will work it out.

Jason (Oxford) did an excellent job with the singing and the reading the Deck of Cards story. I appreciate him going the extra mile in bringing the sound system – it made all the difference. He has a great rapport with the kids. It was also a blessing having the background music he provided – another extra mile. Please thank him for me.

But this year having the opportunity to work with Jeff in the serving line was a blessing!!!! I had never worked with him before. His smile and kindness to me and the cadets was heartwarming. Please thank him for me.

Janice, I know you worked so very hard and I appreciate every mile you drove, every store you went into, every package and box you carried, every plate you fixed and wrapped so beautifully, every phone call you made, every refreshment you planned, but most of all for the love you exhibited. I’ve told you before and I will tell you again there are no words in the dictionary to express what you mean to me and to this ministry event. Thank you for showing all of us what service and witnessing for Jesus looks like.

I love you and appreciate you so very much,

Carol (Climer)

Juv Hall/ Boot Camp Christmas Parties Reports

From: Carol Climer

To: Team Leaders

Words cannot express my appreciation, gratitude, and love to each of you for the hard work you did to make this three night event a huge success. Without you, your leadership, and your team, this could not have been possible. Let me applaud you for your excellence in the way your team conducted themselves – for the great food (Hot Wings, Pizzas, In & Out Burgers, McDonalds, Tuna Sandwiches, Egg Salad Sandwiches, Nachos, Vegetables & Dip, Chips & Dip, Fruit, Cookies, Brownies, Candy, Juice, Soda etc) but most of all for the love you shared with these broken youth. Only when you get to heaven will you know the impact you made in the lives of these young people.

The staff at Juvenile Hall and Boot Camp praised our group again for the professional way these events were handled. Again you are to be proud that another year – number 34 – was completed without one negative incident!

Now for the amazing results:

Juvenile Hall
Number of Churches - 23
Number of Volunteers - 208
Youth - 354
Juv Hall Staff - 87
Professions of Faith - 202
Rededications - 57

Boot Camp
Number of Churches - 6
Number of Volunteers - 22
Cadets - 164
Guards - 20
Professions of Faith - 49
Rededications - 26

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Woodward Park , First Southern Reedley , and First Southern Sanger, for hosting two parties – and for LifeWay for hosting one party and helping to host the second night. Paula Aranaz and her team from Woodward Park graciously accepted the responsibility of hosting a party Monday night. We did not know about this unit until 1:30 p.m. in the afternoon.

I want to thank Cornelia Avenue for hosting a party Monday and Tuesday and hosting the party at Boot Camp (a huge undertaking). Also I am so grateful that Clovis Hills and Cornelia Avenue were willing to change units 15 minutes before the parties began on Tuesday night.

I will be sending you another email with a personal note with the prayer requests for your Pods (and Boot Camp if you attended) attached. Again let me say the handprints you left in the hearts of these young people will never be forgotten. May God bless each of you and your group abundantly.

Joy,
Carol
