I am trying to give updates in blocks of information - some of you want more information I'm sure than others so I'm trying to let you be able to scan and read just what you want. Hope it helps.

Update on Ronnie:

First of all we want to let everyone know that Ronnie got here safe (after a one hour delay in the plane in San Francisco) - we are so grateful to God - this is another miracle on our list. Without precious friends - Armin & Fern and Woody and Jackie - who upgraded his tickets to first class the trip would not have been possible for him. He is in a lot of pain but has a great attitude and is making Lori laugh.

Results from the doctor's visit today:

The doctor let me see all the X-rays and scans he has on Lori - absolutely amazing - technology I've never even seen in L.A. or San Francisco. Even with the technology he is not sure what all he will find. He will be extremely conservative - the more he does the more he will continue to have to do later (and he reminded me he is getting in eyesight of retirement).

Bottom Line:

1) He is hoping - and said we could pray for - soft tissue repair. This means he will go into Lori's right side - investigate - remove damaged tissue and do a tissue graft from another part of her body - shave the bone - and finish with a little more repair work.

2) If it is not soft tissue problems and the rib graft from last surgery cannot be repaired - he will have to remove screws - reopen the bottom right side of of her chin - take another rib graft (absolutely the worst pain for her) replace it and then close.

3) and of course if the bone is beyond repair and too weak then he will clean a little and we will prepare to come back in three months for a complete jaw replacement on both sides.

4) No matter what he does Lori will have arch bars in her mouth (wired shut) with bands for 6 to 8 weeks.

How to Pray:

1) We want to pray for #1 - asking for God's grace for Lori and wisdom for Dr. Kaban - he is literally a genius.

2) Some of you will remember and some are too new in Lori's circle to know that one of the dangers of her surgery is damage to her numerous nerve transplants in her face. Please Please Please pray for God to protect these during surgery.

3) Please pray for Lori to be able to physically endure anesthesia. Last surgery she was given enough to put a 400 lb man to sleep and they started cutting on her before she was out. Then after working with her in recovery for over 3 hours the doctor took us into recovery and had us work with her a couple more hours to get her to wake up.

4) For strength for Ronnie and me as we do post operative care for Lori. Dr. Kaban is very definite in her after care. We will be working with her around the clock until she is released.

Surgery Time:

We will be at the hospital at 7:00 a.m. and surgery will begin at approximately 10:00 a.m. (surgery 7:00 a.m. your time) - lots of prep work for her. Surgery will last depending on the severity anywhere from from 2 to 9 hours.

Web page Update:

If the hospital has access to computers for the web page update you will get an email and instructions. I will be able to update you during the day. If I don't have access you will get updates from Debbie Campbell during the day for the next couple of days. I will update you when I return to the room. When Lori is released then the web page will be available on a daily basis.

To those who love and care for Lori:

She has had numerous xrays - all kinds of tests - and enough blood taken to give life to someone else (haha).

Lori arrived Wednesday night and went to the hotel - and entered a nightmare. The hotel was on a list from the hospital so we thought it would be safe, and since it was a few miles from the hosptial we could save a little money - WRONG!!!!! It was out in the industrial part of town with absolutely no access to anything. It was difficult to find a hotel for the 17 nights we needed to be here - remember Mon is St. Patrick's Day and Boston is the hub for celebrating!

After being on the phone for over 3 hours God opened the door for us to stay 1/4 of a mile from the hospital at a new hotel (at twice the price) - remember it is necessary that we are in walking distance to some place to get juices, jellos, water etc for Lori when she is moved back to the hotel - we must have a small refrigerator for medicine - and must be able to get food for Ron and me - and access to the hospital. We are in walking distance or a short cab ride (also costly $26 from Logan airport (3 miles) to the hosptial. The people running this hotel have been exttremely kind and accomodating (another answer to prayer).

Thursday & Friday numerous tests and a meeting with the surgeon - he reminded her that after 22 years of working on her they needed to get a good resolution before he retires.
Saturday more blood work and urine tests. Unfortunatley they found some problems so more tests today (Sunday).

Schedule for Monday: We will meet with the surgeon and go over all the tests and will get the time for surgery.

First impression from the surgeon after he saw the preliminary tests:

1) Maybe he can go in and shave the bones and clean up the rib graft and try and replace the screws and strengthen the structure.
2) If #1 can't be done because of too much deterioration he will have to do another rib graft. He wants her to be prepared for this because it is so very painful.
3) If when he gets in her face (just cannot be seen with xrays) the deterioration and structure is beyond repair he will do a little clean up and (are you sitting down?) then we will have to come back in three months for a complete jaw replacement on both sides (like a hip replacement). The preparation for this kind of surgery takes three months to build the molds of the face and jaw etc.

So what to pray for:

1) A safe and restful flight for Ronnie tomorrow.
2) Good results from the extra urine and blood tests that were taken Saturday and Sunday.
3) That the surgeon can successfully do #1.
4) That Lori can get some rest and relief of pain - this evening has been extremely difficult for her.

Hopefully a webpage will be set up for her though the hospital tomorrow. If so I will email the instructions so you can check on her and send her a greeting. Thank you so much for your willingess to keep Lori and our family in prayer - God knows how much we all need the strength and wisdom to make decisions and especially for Ronnie and me as we take care of Lori. Please pray for Lori to have the strength to endure the 7th surgery with each being more trying than the one before. I know of no one who has been more courageous than she - it is beyond me how she can face another surgery knowing the results are uncertain and most of the pain will remain.

About 2,400 students and leaders attended from about 130 churches. The churches came from a dozen different cultural groups and over a half dozen different denominations. There were over 80 recorded decisions plus many more decisions that were seen only in the church group devotions. This year over 500 students participated in ministry projects around Long Beach including community surveys and service in hospitals, clothing closets, and food banks. Students gave over $6,000 to California Missions. Of course the real measure of the success of the conference is not in the numbers that can be measured on site. It is in the changes that happen in individual lives and in youth groups. Thanks to a great team of dedicated volunteers, Tsunami was an immense success. California Marriage Protection Act If the California Supreme Court strikes down Proposition 22, and thus overrules the people's will on marriage (currently defined as a union between one man and one woman), California Marriage Protection Act will be ready with an initiative on the November ballot for the people of the Golden State to vote to override the court and protect traditional marriage, according to Ron Prentice, chief executive officer of the California Family Council. The act also would deter further efforts by the state Legislature to legalize same-sex "marriage," despite Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's second veto of such a measure in 2007. ACTIONS: 1.
