Update on Lori Climer 3/20 AM

From Carol Climer......
Just got home to shower so Ronnie and I can return to the hospital and meet with the doctors at 7:00 a.m.

Praise

Thank you all for praying - FINALLY - after midnight we were able to give Lori a mixture of medication that relieved her pain and allowed her to sleep - she had been awake since they put her in recovery (over 32 hours with just 40 minutes of sleep) - the pain was so severe and the vomiting so frequent she could not rest. It took a team to finally find the right combination to work - but she had a calm and peaceful few hours of sleep.

How to pray

1) Please pray for the combination to continue to work today.
2) Please pray for the doctors to have wisdom as they continue to treat

both the issues of her surgery and the separate issue of the headaches

(on-going for over 22 years) - they have been shocked at what she

suffers with on a daily basis.
3) Please pray for strength for Ronnie as he continues to help us - his pain

is also great - but he gives us a sense of peace and assurance that God

is working just at the right time.

What to expect today

The doctors hoped we would be able to bring Lori to the hotel today - but this was before all the pain challenge. This area is really suffering with the flu - so many people here are sick. A decision will be made later today regarding the next step.

Thank you all for your love, prayers and concern for Lori - we have not had time to respond to your emails but have read them quickly and tell her about them. When we bring her to the hotel - we will respond to all of them joyfully.

Debbie will give you an update later today.

Update on Lori Climer - 3/19 PM

From Debbie Campbell:

Carol called and said that they had been through some special x-ray tests with Lori. They placed Lori's head in a vice much like that of a mammogram machine. Because of the nature of the beast, Lori has had severe, extreme pain and vomiting. They are trying to get her pain under control again. Once they are able to do this she will be on schedule toward getting out by this weekend to the hotel where she will stay with her mother until they return the end of the month.

The main prayer requests are:

1) Control this severe pain!!!!!

2) Guard against infection. The sooner her pain can be controlled, the sooner she gets out of the hospital and away from the chance of getting an infection.

Please continue to pray for a speedy recovery and for her parents, Ron & Carol, as all are very exhausted and need some good rest.

More updated tomorrow!! Any emails you want to get to Lori or the Climer family, send to me and I will get them to the family.

Thank you for being faithful to pray!!!

From Carol: Update on Lori from Mom 5:45 am 3/19

Just got back to the hotel to shower and return to meet the surgeon at 7:00 a.m. Lori had an extremely rough night not sleeping more than 45 minutes since she went into surgery yesterday. Her pain is out of control.

Results from Surgery:

We were told last night by the resident that Lori's surgeon literally danced in the operating room to see that her rib graft from last surgery was intact and not rejecting. Your prayers have literally opened the doors of heaven.

She will have a painful recovery but at least we know what battle she faces - lots of painful physical therapy - trips to L.A. for aftercare - but most of all some hope for movement in her jaw. There was so much scar tissue and bone that had grown in the joint she was loosing all function.

How to Pray Today

1) Please pray for pain control - Lori was in recovery for over 4 hours becasue they could not control her pain - NOT because they couldn't wake her - she was awak immediately - they just did not want to give us the informatoin. Some pain control doctors will be in to see her this morning. Since the pain got away from the nurse in recovery we have been playing catch up - which does not work for Lori - lots of vomiting which is vrey difficult after the kind of surgery she has gone through.

2) For sleep and rest for her - she is exhausted - she is fighting with all her might to overcome this ordeal.

3) For Ronnie and me as we stand by and watch our daughter fight this battle with very little we can do except to comfort her in very small ways - I cannot express to you the agony we feel for her.

Later Update

Debbie will update you later today - thank you so much for your prayers for Lori, Ronnie and me - without you holding us up none of us could have made it through the last couple of days. You have carried us as we walk through the "footprints in the sand" journey. May God bless each of you for your faithfulness

Lori Climer UPDATE from Debbie Campbell

Just received a call from Carol - They started Lori's surgery at 10am Boston time, 7am our time. it has taken 2 1/2 hrs or so just to finish the work in the mouth with the bars, arch and all mouth prepping. They are now starting the main repairs for the face and jaws. There has been much difficulty in opening her mouth. The doctor will call Carol every 45 minutes to 1 hour with step by step updates as to what they are doing now so we know how to pray.

Please pray for divine guidance for the surgeons and nurses so this can be Lori's last surgery. Pray for Lori's recovery and minimal pain after surgery and for a speedy recovery. Pray for her parents, Ron and Carol Climer, as there are real medical issues here as well.

I will keep you updated during the surgery and just after until Carol gets the web site set up and then a link will be emailed to each of you to read the updates daily.

If you have any questions feel free to email me anytime. Thank you for being a faithful prayer warrior and supporting those who are in need. Your support is greatly needed and appreciated.

Be Blessed,
Debbie Campbell

Monday 3/17 update on Lori Climer

From Carol Climer in Boston regarding Lori Climer:

I am trying to give updates in blocks of information - some of you want more information I'm sure than others so I'm trying to let you be able to scan and read just what you want. Hope it helps.

Update on Ronnie:

First of all we want to let everyone know that Ronnie got here safe (after a one hour delay in the plane in San Francisco) - we are so grateful to God - this is another miracle on our list. Without precious friends - Armin & Fern and Woody and Jackie - who upgraded his tickets to first class the trip would not have been possible for him. He is in a lot of pain but has a great attitude and is making Lori laugh.

Results from the doctor's visit today:

The doctor let me see all the X-rays and scans he has on Lori - absolutely amazing - technology I've never even seen in L.A. or San Francisco. Even with the technology he is not sure what all he will find. He will be extremely conservative - the more he does the more he will continue to have to do later (and he reminded me he is getting in eyesight of retirement).

Bottom Line:

1) He is hoping - and said we could pray for - soft tissue repair. This means he will go into Lori's right side - investigate - remove damaged tissue and do a tissue graft from another part of her body - shave the bone - and finish with a little more repair work.

2) If it is not soft tissue problems and the rib graft from last surgery cannot be repaired - he will have to remove screws - reopen the bottom right side of of her chin - take another rib graft (absolutely the worst pain for her) replace it and then close.

3) and of course if the bone is beyond repair and too weak then he will clean a little and we will prepare to come back in three months for a complete jaw replacement on both sides.

4) No matter what he does Lori will have arch bars in her mouth (wired shut) with bands for 6 to 8 weeks.

How to Pray:

1) We want to pray for #1 - asking for God's grace for Lori and wisdom for Dr. Kaban - he is literally a genius.

2) Some of you will remember and some are too new in Lori's circle to know that one of the dangers of her surgery is damage to her numerous nerve transplants in her face. Please Please Please pray for God to protect these during surgery.

3) Please pray for Lori to be able to physically endure anesthesia. Last surgery she was given enough to put a 400 lb man to sleep and they started cutting on her before she was out. Then after working with her in recovery for over 3 hours the doctor took us into recovery and had us work with her a couple more hours to get her to wake up.

4) For strength for Ronnie and me as we do post operative care for Lori. Dr. Kaban is very definite in her after care. We will be working with her around the clock until she is released.

Surgery Time:

We will be at the hospital at 7:00 a.m. and surgery will begin at approximately 10:00 a.m. (surgery 7:00 a.m. your time) - lots of prep work for her. Surgery will last depending on the severity anywhere from from 2 to 9 hours.

Web page Update:

If the hospital has access to computers for the web page update you will get an email and instructions. I will be able to update you during the day. If I don't have access you will get updates from Debbie Campbell during the day for the next couple of days. I will update you when I return to the room. When Lori is released then the web page will be available on a daily basis.

Thank you for your love, concern, and prayers for Lori - she is our hero - and suffers in silence ALWAYS with a smile.
