Some of our pastors were able to attend the funeral for Rob Prevost today. It was a moving experience. Rob has only been with us in Mid Valley for a year. What I heard about his life made me wish I had known him better and longer.
What a legacy!
Rob was described as a humble, playful, loving man who took witnessing and preaching/teaching very seriously. He was an enthusiastic witness who loved the Lord and loved people.
In the last year of hius life, he made a lasting impact on First Southern Baptist Church of Reedly. The people loved him and grew under his leadership.
For me, the service was a time of reflection on my own life and ministry since Rob was only 8 months older than me. Granted, he had suffered much with poor health over an extended period of time, but he did so graciously and faithfully.
I have reflected on my thoughts in another posting I call "Legacy" on pastortomsims.com. Connected to that is a discussion on the Christian Fellowship Forum. The question prompted by one of the pastor's message on Philippans 1 has to do with the legacy I would leave behind if I departed for Heaven tomorrow.
Let us live with that possibility in view.
