Mid-Valley Annual Meeting and Mission Celebration

Saturday, October 8, 2011 8:30AM - Lunch 
Annadale Baptist Church, Sanger
This Mission Celebration is the one time of year that all 67 churches gather for an incredible time of learning, worship, inspiration and fellowship.  We will also select new leaders and adopt a budget.  Mid-Valley Association is an exciting partnership where God is active and His people are on mission to push back darkness with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Remember to invite your church leaders and chuMoises Cabrerarch members.  See you there!

  • Church News
    FSBC Madera is leading out in the Fifth Annual Christian Biker Rally at the Madera Fairgrounds on Saturday Oct 1 from 9AM to 3PM.  The theme of this free event is "Riding Together Toward Jesus."  All are invited! 


    More than 200 volunteers from El Encino and Clovis Hills teamed up to bring God's love to children in SE Fresno by providing tennis shoes and socks along with the gospel presentation.  They are now following up on 415 people from contacts that were made at the Faithful Feet project.

    Church Anniversary Celebrations in the Mid-Valley:
    Sierra Heights Baptist Church is seeking a part-time worship leader.

    Firebaugh FBC - After School Ministry: Needs someone to staff their after-school Computer Learning Center one afternoon each week from 3pm to 6pm.

    Firebaugh FBC - Adult English Language Ministry: Needs someone to work with the preschool children of the English language students on Tuesday evenings from 5pm to 7pm.  Candi Rangel, a NAMB-certified ESL instructor, teaches beginner's English to up to 35 adults each week.  Contact Sandy Duke if you can help with either of these needs. 659-2548.

    The men of St Matthews Church are roofing their church building this Saturday morning.  On Friday night, starting at 9PM, they are camping out at their property to keep an eye on the roofing supplies and to enjoy fellowship and food.  Pastor Chisom welcomes men from sister churches are welcome to join them.  Contact Anessa for more information: (559) 479-9144  
      
    Mid-Valley Leadership Center 
    The mission of the Mid-Valley Leadership Center is to help sister churches train and deploy mission-focused leaders.  Students earn the MVLC Certificate by successfully completing eight seminars.  The format is accessible to bi-vocational ministers, potential church leaders, and growing followers of Christ.  MVLC is biblical, accessible, accelerated, cost-effective, and relational. Classes coming in the Fall:

    Church Leaders Network 
    Pastors and Ministry Leaders:  What's your church's measure of "success"?  Is it a biblical indicator?  Does it need to change?  Mid-Valley pastors and leaders will be exploring this question at the Church Leaders Network.  This is a series of four bi-weekly sessions that will focus on the topic of Missional Renaissance: Changing the Scorecard for the Church, by Reggie McNeal.  The first session is on October 3 from 9AM to 11AM at the Ministry Resource Center.  Pastors David Carothers and Steve Davidson will be facilitating these sessions.  Come learn from the Word, from Reggie McNeal, and from one another!


    California Mission Offering
    Mid-Valley now has its own Special Evangelistic Events Trailer thanks to the California Mission Offering..  The Statewide Goal for this year is $350,000.  Here's where the mission offering goes:

    Central Valley Police Week
    This weekend is set aside to honor those who serve and protect us.  A major feature includes the movie "Courageous."  Check here for more information on the movie and prayer events locally.

    Church News

     Sierra Heights Baptist Church is seeking an energetic, Southern Baptist (or baptistic background), spirit-led individual for the position of Worship Leader.  This will be a part-time position of 15-20 hours/week.  See the full job description here.

     

    Cornelia Avenue (aka "The Avenue") sponsored a day of medical/dental ministry for their neighbors.  See pictures.  They used the CSBC medical and dental units that were staffed by volunteer professionals.  This ministry allowed Cornelia to both demonstrate the love of Christ and to speak to families about the love of Christ.  The mobile units are available to MV churhces to use as a meaningful bridge to connect Christ with their communities.  They were acquired through the sacrifical giving of CA churches to the California Mission Offering.

     

    The 4th Annual Mid-Valley Golf Tournament heM Soungld last Saturday was once again a success!  Michael and Philip Soung (father/son) were two of the forty who golfed at the tournament held at Javier's in Kerman.  Alan Hix directed the event that included golfers from numerous MV churches.  Randy McWhorter gave a biblical challenge to the participants.

    Ministry Resource 

    "Faith Comes by Hearing" provides God's Word in audio to the Military Chaplains around the world.  The Military BibleStick comes pre-loaded with the dramatized New Testament and it is specially designed for military use, including combat situations. Ken Edwards met with California DOM's to share this resource. Churches can help get Bibles in the hands of military personnel as a Nov 11 Veteran's Day focus.     Church News

     Jewels Baptist Church in Clovis is seeking a volunteer bilingual  (Spanish/English) worship leader to help develop their worship team.  If you are interested please contact Pastor Joshua Smith at 559-229-9533 ext. 249.

     

    FSBC Kerman is hosting the Kerman Friendship Center, a Christian ministry to their Punjabi neighbors. Recently, Tara Singh passed his citizenship interview test and will take the oath to become a U.S. citizen in October. He is a retired school teacher who would like to Kerman Ctrdo something more for his community than farm labor.  Mr. Singh and his wife are learning English at the Kerman Friendship Center.  Please pray for Don Fisher and the volunteers from FSBC Kerman who are providing citizenship classes and English conversation classes.

    John Stafford is the pastor of FSBC Kerman.

     

    First Baptist Church Firebaugh has opened a small computer learning center to serve the needs of their community. Computer classes and homework help will also be offered in this ministry.  The center has 5 computers but they are in need of a mid to high volume printer and cables and switch/hub to connect the computers to the printer.  Many in their community do not have computers or Internet access.  If you can help with this need please comtact Sandy Duke at sandybduke@sbcglobal.net or Mike Duke at 559-248-6682.

     

    St. Matthew Baptist Church Fresno invites all to attend their 2nd Annual Community-Wide Friends and Family Block Party on Saturday, Oct. 15. Location: 1808 S. Crystal Ave, Fresno.

     

    Swan Avenue Baptist Church in Sanger is seeking a volunteer worship leader to assist them in developing a worship team.  Contact Pastor Isaac Chavez at 559-294-0399.

     

    Crosspoint Church will be hosting a Walk Thru the Bible Training, Old Testament, with Pastor Larry Dotson on Saturday, September 24, 9am-5pm.  The cost will be $35/person.  The second training, Walk Thru the Bible, New Testament, will be Saturday, October 22.

    Missions 

    The 3 C's of Missions - read the latest post from Rich Johnstone, Director of missions.

     

    There are eight valley cities with no ongoing Southern Baptist witness.  The need among the Hispanic communities is even greater.  Fifteen valley cities have significant Hispanic population, yet have no ongoing Southern Baptist witness.  Also, many of the unreached communities are not geographic, but represent an ethnic or language group living in many neighborhoods.  (Read the full blog post here).

    More churches are performing background checks on volunteers as a part of their child protection policies.  Lifeway Christian Resources is now providing an easy way for churches to accomplish these checks.  Go here to learn more.
