    Church News

Sierra Heights Baptist Church is seeking an energetic, Southern Baptist (or baptistic background), spirit-led individual for the position of Worship Leader.  This will be a part-time position of 15-20 hours/week.  See the full job description here.

Cornelia Avenue (aka "The Avenue") sponsored a day of medical/dental ministry for their neighbors.  See pictures.  They used the CSBC medical and dental units that were staffed by volunteer professionals.  This ministry allowed Cornelia to both demonstrate the love of Christ and to speak to families about the love of Christ.  The mobile units are available to MV churhces to use as a meaningful bridge to connect Christ with their communities.  They were acquired through the sacrifical giving of CA churches to the California Mission Offering.

The 4th Annual Mid-Valley Golf Tournament heM Soungld last Saturday was once again a success!  Michael and Philip Soung (father/son) were two of the forty who golfed at the tournament held at Javier's in Kerman.  Alan Hix directed the event that included golfers from numerous MV churches.  Randy McWhorter gave a biblical challenge to the participants.

The mission of the Mid-Valley Leadership Center is to help sister churches train and deploy mission-focused leaders.  Students earn the MVLC Certificate by successfully completing eight seminars.  The format is accessible to bi-vocational ministers, potential church leaders, and growing followers of Christ.  MVLC is biblical, accessible, accelerated, cost-effective, and relational. Classes coming in the Fall:

    Church Leaders Network

Pastors and Ministry Leaders:  What's your church's measure of "success"?  Is it a biblical indicator?  Does it need to change?  Mid-Valley pastors and leaders will be exploring this question at the Church Leaders Network.  This is a series of four bi-weekly sessions that will focus on the topic:  Missional Renaissance: Changing the Scorecard for the Church, by Reggie McNeal.  The first session is on October 3 from 9AM to 11AM at the Ministry Resource Center.  Pastors David Carothers and Steve Davidson will be facilitating these sessions.  Come learn from the Word, from Reggie McNeal, and from one another!

    Ministry Resource

"Faith Comes by Hearing" provides God's Word in audio to the Military Chaplains around the world.  The Military BibleStick comes pre-loaded with the dramatized New Testament and it is specially designed for military use, including combat situations. Ken Edwards met with California DOM's to share this resource. Churches can help get Bibles in the hands of military personnel as a Nov 11 Veteran's Day focus. See the video overview and find out more here.
